Tirana Business Park at CSR Kosovo Network
On February 5th, Tirana Business Park had the pleasure to join CSR Kosovo in their Networking Dinner held in Pristina. The dinner aimed to gather members, partners and influential parties for the purpose of sharing and promoting CSR principles.
The Prime Minister of Kosovo Mr. Ramush Haradinaj attended and gave the government’s full support and approach to CSR. He emphasized the importance and the fact that corporates and enterprises in Kosovo are being more and more aware of their social responsibility towards workers’ rights, combating negative phenomena’s as corruption and being environmentally conscious. Head of the CSR Hellas board Ms. Maria Alexiou besides sharing the European experience with us, spoke about the influence local culture has in defining the behavior of companies in relation to society. Taking as an example the regional traditional principle of “Besa” as a positive approach that can determine the responsible behavior of companies towards society. Last but not least, chairman of the CSR Kosovo Network Mr. Visar Kelmendi, updated the participants with the Networks current activities and invited nonmembers to join the cause raising awareness about the importance of CSR, either within companies or in the education sector and in public opinion in general.
CSR Network stands for Corporate Social Responsibility and it seeks to fully comply with the Ten Global Compact Principles which is a principle-based framework for businesses, stating ten principles in the areas of human rights, labor, the environment and anti-corruption. Protection of internationally known human rights, elimination of child labor, promotion of environmentally friendly practices, and elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation, and promotion of anti-corruption values are only some of the areas that the Network seeks to address. CSR Kosovo was established in 2011 and holds within some of the well-known leaders of business companies in Kosovo.
